Although Joe Ma left TVB last year to join a separate management company, the actor has recently confirmed to be returning for the upcoming "Tiger Cubs 2" this summer, reportedly losing over HKD 10 million over his decision.
According to Popular Asians, an insider stated, "Joe has kept a good relationship with TVB when he left. When TVB decided to give "Tiger Cubs 2" the green-light, they all wanted Joe to return. In the end, Joe decided to sign an artiste contract with TVB."
The insider also revealed that TVB is paying the actor HKD 760,000 per episode – making him one of the highest paying actors in TVB. It also caused the actor to lose HKD 10 million in remuneration due to his decision to sign a one drama-per year contract with the station.
When asked about the rumour, Joe stated, "I indeed turned down two mainland Chinese dramas in order to film "Tiger Cubs". But let's not talk about how much money I lost. It is not very important."
"Tiger Cubs has been one of my favourite and most satisfying projects in recent years and I am very happy to have the opportunity to film the sequel. When TVB contacted me about the project, it didn't take long for me to say yes. I am honoured to have the chance to film a drama that I truly enjoy and love. It's worth it," the actor added.
Joe also refused to respond on the exact fee TVB is paying per episode, saying that "it's not all about money".
"Tiger Cubs 2" will begin filming in June 2013.
