The year 2013 just started, but things do not seem to be working out for Paul Wong.
Paul and his band were supposed to guest-perform at the New Year countdown concert held in Macao on Monday. Despite waiting for hours, they did not get to appear onstage during the concert.
In response to this incident, the concert organizer, Zhejiang TV's senior management Xu Ji Feng emphasised, "We did not invite any other artistes or guest-performers other than The Voice of China's [Chinese reality talent show] contestants. Since Paul's performance was not scheduled beforehand, we cannot broadcast it as well."
He also added the miscommunication was most likely caused by the concert's executing partner, Can Xing Company.
Guitarist Jimmy Mak expressed his dissatisfaction via his microblog update and commented that Zhejiang TV "did not have any respect for them".
After the hosts announced the end of the concert and the production crew started clearing up, the Hong Kong singer insisted on performing onstage for his diehard fans, who refused to leave that night. He even sang ten songs.
Paul wrote on his microblog later that night, "I am angry, but not dejected. I am glad I made use of my music to make the fans stay longer. My band got excited and we just kept the music going. This is the rock spirit."
