Actor Gallen Lo is threatening to sue a tabloid for the slanderous report regarding his presence at his father's funeral, which defamed his good name in the process.
According to Jayne Stars, a tabloid recently reported that Gallen did not fulfil his responsibilities as the eldest son at his father's funeral due to the birth of his daughter, Sela.
The report stated that Gallen left the funeral arrangements, which was held on 3 May, solely to his ex-wife Clare Fong and their 14-year-old son Lo Yu Shing instead and only sent a wreath with Sophie and his name on it.
It was also alleged that Gallen only showed up at the funeral home for the procession with a mask on his face. Instead of carrying his father's photograph as the customary of an eldest son, Gallen let his son do the job, while he accompanied his mother behind.
Enraged by the report that insinuated his lack of responsibility, on 9 May, the actor issued a press statement, saying, "I am very upset that the report distorted the actual situation. This publication took advantage of my father's death for their headlines. This action is questionable, and has hurt me and my entire family."
The actor also stated that his lawyer will be responsible for further actions against the tabloid.
