Moses Chan reportedly intends to leave TVB for China’s more lucrative market once his contract expires.
According to the Hong Kong media, the Hong Kong actor’s contract with TVB will end soon. With more and more fellow Hong Kong actors such as Kevin Cheng, Bowie Lam and Charmaine Sheh reportedly earning higher income after leaving TVB for mainland China’s entertainment industry, it was said that Moses plans to follow suit as well.
Although Moses once pledged his loyalty to his “maternal home” TVB, it was speculated that the leading star of TVB is looking for ways to earn more money to save up for his marriage.
Sources revealed that many mainland production companies have expressed their interest in recruiting the actor as his contract with TVB is due to end soon. Some even offered to pay him HK$50,000 (approximately S$8,000) per episode for his future dramas, which is five times more than what TVB is paying now.
Desperately trying to keep him, TVB has been actively looking for suitable mainland dramas that Moses can act in. It was said that they have successfully clinched a deal for Moses and he will begin filming in China once everything is finalised.
On top of that, TVB also plans to promote the new drama starring Moses and Wayne Lai as the company’s blockbuster drama of the year in order to pave the way for Moses’s best actor win next year.
When asked to comment on the rumours, TVB executive Virginia Lok confirmed that the actor has an intention to leave, but they are sincerely negotiating with him.
