Daniel Wu shocked many with his sickly appearance, while promoting "That Demon Within" in Sai Kong with co-stars Nick Cheung and Andy On recently.

As reported on Jayne Stars website, Daniel – who portrays a struggling cop in the new movie, admitted on 5 March that he had to lose a lot of weight for the film.

Losing over 30 pounds for the film, the actor revealed, "The last step of the weight loss regimen was the hardest of all."

It was rumoured that that the pressure for him to lose weight became so extreme that he moved from a healthy diet to not eating at all. He was also rumoured to begin developing signs of anorexia in the first few months of filming.

Wife Lisa S. refused to comment on Daniel's eating disorder, but a source close to Daniel said, "Daniel loves to eat, but he couldn't eat anything for the movie. He had to eat more vegetables, less rice, and more healthy drinks. A nutritionist is always with him and making sure he is healthy, but he gets really tense and grumpy whenever he sees his co-stars eating big meals in front of him. It's getting worse, because now whenever he sees food, he doesn't feel like eating."

The source added, "Daniel is athletic and he keeps up with his exercise, but now, he would feel faint when he works out too much. It is very easy for him to gain pounds, but he has to suffer until the movie concludes."

In related news, it was reported that Daniel has decided to turn down the Alan Mak - Felix Chong production, "Overheard 3", and Johnnie To's "Don't Go Breaking My Heart 2" to take a long break and prepare himself in his new responsibility as a first time father. Wife Lisa S is currently in her second trimester.
