Raymond Lam may have wished for a normal relationship, but his and girlfriend Karena Ng's celebrity status has made it an almost impossible wish to come true.
Jayne Stars website reported that on 14 February, the actor was only able to spend a four-hour dinner date at Causeway Bay on Valentine's Day with his young girlfriend, as the paparazzi were ready to photograph them any chance they got.
Trying to avoid the reporters, the couple had to leave the restaurant building separately.
At 12:20am, Karena was initially spotted leaving the building with her manager, Carmen, but quickly hurried back up into the restaurant when they spotted the paparazzi waiting for them.
Ten minutes later, Raymond, accompanied by his friends, were seen leaving the building via the front entrance.
Asked about his dinner and 'honeymoon' in Tokyo, Raymond did not respond, but only smiled and said, "Happy Valentine's Day!" before heading into a taxi that had been waiting for him for three hours.
Meanwhile, his girlfriend had to use a less glamorous way. Ten minutes after his exit, Karena was spotted leaving the restaurant via a back door, which led into a back alley. Despite her continuous attempts to avoid mud puddles in her high heels, the actress was joyfully smiling the entire way.
Asked if she was happy, Karena dodged the question and said, "Thank you for your concern."
